PAPAYA PLAYA PROJECT: HOTEL REVIEW

Stunning eco-chic hotel located on the coast of Tulum, Mexico.

When I booked the Papaya Playa Project (PPP) online, I really didn’t know what I was getting us into. Full disclosure: I booked this hotel because I had some Starwood Points banked up that I wanted to use, and this was the only boutique property that they had in Tulum. Knowing it was a Starwood Property, I trusted it would be decent, and I went ahead and booked it.
PPP exceeded any expectations that I had, and is definitely one of the top 5 hotels I had stayed at, EVER! You enter a serene, jungle atmosphere each room is an individual hut. After walking through the jungle to our private hut, we were amazed at the stunning views we had. Breathtaking! The rooms were very ‘Swiss Family Robinson-esque’ with rustic bathrooms and a bug net around your bed. This type of lodging is definitely not for everyone, however if you are into complete relaxation and a more natural feel – PPP is for you!
“This eco-chi resort offers the relaxation of a remote destination combined with the swank of a SoHo crowd,”

Not only did the accommodations impress us, but the vibe of the hotel was that of a swanky meatpacking district hotel. There was a live DJ every night playing the perfect EDM island vibes, and a beach-front bar filled with island socialites. The food was good, the drinks were reasonably priced, and the mood was spectacular. The staff was also incredible. There is a very relaxed vibe at this hotel, however the service is quick and reliable.

There were several other nice touches including small, private pools, swings, hammocks and more located around the property. There was also an amazing juice bar so you can get your greens in.
