The most delicious, authentic tacos you will find in all of Tulum, quite possibly in all of the Yucatan Peninsula. You must make a stop here!
Obviously when you think of Mexico it is synonymous with delicious tacos. However, finding an actual legitimate taco place that the locals eat at versus tourists is a challenge in itself. While in Tulum we were lucky enough to find the local hot spot for tacos, and we ate the best tacos of our lives! We liked them so much, we ate here three times during our trip, and one of those times we drove out of our way.
Taqueria Honorio
is located right in the town of downtown Tulum. When you arrive, you will see metal cart with some bar stools, and an adorable abuela hand making tortillas. There are also two large canvas tents with tables and chairs with seating available. This is definitely not a fancy, touristy place to eat. It’s super casual, full of locals, and extremely delicious.
“These are definitely the best tacos I had during my entire trip to Mexico. Sometimes I still crave them for breakfast!”
- Lindsey Farrah
They keep the menu very short and sweet. There are four types of tacos, and they are only available from 9 AM - 2 PM. This place is extremely busy for both breakfast and lunch, and they only make a limited number of the meats for each tacos, so if you go late in the day they will probabaly be out of their most popular pork tacos.
Taqueria Honorio
Don't be fooled by the minimalist exterior; these tacos are tasty.
Why is this place so amazing? For one, they are authentic, home-made tortillas, made fresh right in front of you. Also, they are authentic tacos including meats like slow roasted pork and tender beef. They also prepare everything fresh to order, and provide you with several home-made sauces so that you can dress your taco any way you like it. Another big reason we fell in love with these tacos: they are 75 cents USD per taco!!!! If you are looking for casual, delicious, and local–this is the place for you.
